Who is satan? Isaiah 14:12 KJV How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! Ephesians 6:12 KJV For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. satan is Lucifer, the devil, a loser, pure evil, the father of lies, the great deceiver, the accuser, a murderer, a thief, the destroyer and a pest. No good comes from him. He shows himself as an angel of light to deceive people. He also comes as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour, but there is no bark to his bite if you know your authority in The Lord Jesus Christ.
How did Jesus overcome satan? Matthew 4:4-11 KJV 4 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. 3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. 5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him. After Jesus spent 40 days and 40 nights fasting in the wilderness, satan came to Him and tempted Him when He was in a physically weakened state. When this happened, Jesus did not pray to God and ask for help and protection. Instead, Jesus said it is written and spoke God's Word to make the enemy flee! Here is how Jesus overcame: Lust of the flesh Matthew 4:4 KJV But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Pride Matthew 4:7 KJV Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Lust of the eye Matthew 4:10 KJV Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
How to overcome satan Revelation 12:11 KJV And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. James 4:7 KJV Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Romans 16:20 KJV And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord. Psalm 57:6 KJV They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Psalm 23:5 KJV Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Psalm 110:1 KJV The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. We have authority over satan if we are born again, spirit-filled Christians! Jesus has already paid the price, conquered the enemy and given us the tools we need to run satan over. The Holy Spirit within us is greater than the enemy. God's Word is the sword of the Spirit and it's what we use to chop up the enemy and make him flee. So meditate on The Word of God and memorize Scripture so when the enemy comes you're prepared for battle. If you keep chopping satan to pieces and running him over quickly when he comes at you, he will start to think twice before he comes after you in the future.
Remind satan of his future Revelation 20:1-3 KJV 1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. Revelation 20:10 KJV And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. When satan reminds you of your past regrets, failures and tells you that you're not good enough, then be quick to remind him that he's already lost to The Lord Jesus Christ! Also remind him of his future in the bottomless pit and lake of fire!
